Juneau’s Black Awareness Association (BAA).

The BAA was established to celebrate the richness, joy, and resilience of Black American culture. We serve as a bridge, fostering awareness within the broader Juneau community while providing a dedicated space for those of Black heritage to thrive.

We are committed to the advancement of our members through:

Education: Providing scholarships for students and grants for local schools to improve Black history curriculum and resources.

Community: Hosting Juneau’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month and Juneteenth celebrations.

Growth: Supporting the professional, social, and personal development of Black Alaskans.
