Celebrating the Impact and Strength of Black Heritage in Juneau.

The Black Awareness Association (BAA) is a cultural organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting Black American culture within the Juneau community and Southeast Alaska. We serve as a critical bridge between the grassroots community and state leadership, hosting annual MLK Day services and Juneteenth celebrations attended by the Governor, State Officials and community members.

For over three decades, BAA has been a vital pillar of the Juneau community by providing educational opportunities, hosting cultural celebrations and supporting the social and professional growth of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

Originally founded as an extension of the MLK Foundation of Anchorage, BAA has evolved into a unique, independent organization with a professional platform dedicated to active service and systemic equity.
